TETHEROW

Tetherow, Bend, OR

After playing 120 holes at Bandon, I decided to take the long road home, as I wanted to finally play Bandon. Back in 2007, when I was the Assistant Caddie Master at Chambers Bay, I had the opportunity to move to Bend and work at Tetherow. We decided to stay back, and thankfully, as the market crashed in 2008, and Bend was the hardest hit market in the country. Fast forward 12 years, and Bend is booming. It is still the best kept secret in the world of golf. There is SO MUCH good golf in Bend. And tetherow is at the top of many lists. It is extraordinarily unique, challenging, incredible on the eyes, and a lot of fun. Some very hard shots and lines that I Had never seen on a course before. A whole of of risk-reward around the greens, some piunishing bunker placements for a mis-hit. A true gem of a course. I arrived late in the afternoon, the weather was dark (especially for June), and I was a little dissapointed as it wasnt prime for photographing. So I decided to just play. I was all alone on the course, ripping around on the Finn Scooter (my first time using, and I will ALWAYS opt for a FINN Scooter on a course that isnt set up for walking - such a blast). Thank you, David McLay Kidd, as always, for creating a beauty of a track to explore, be challenged by, and to have a blast navigating.
